ATOMIC JIU-JITSU BELT RANKING SYSTEMS

At Atomic Jiu-Jitsu, we have a dual belt system for our Junior members and our Adult members. One belt system will be based on Gracie University’s self-defense based curriculums of Gracie Bullyproof for juniors and Gracie Combatives for adults. The other belt system will be based on the technique and time requirements of Atomic Jiu-Jitsu and the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF) which is an organization that regulates the sportive aspect of jiu-jitsu. In order to compete, an IBJJF belt rank is required. In addition, we have belt ranking systems for our Gracie Women Empowered program for women’s self-defense where they can earn their self-defense Pink belts and also for Kick Boxing for juniors and adults!

The Gracie Bullyproof® belt ranking is based on Gracie University’s self-defense based curriculum for juniors. To fall under the Adult Ranking System, a junior member must be at least 16 years of age. For members under 16 years of age the system goes as follows: white, white-yellow, yellow, white-orange, yellow-orange, orange, white-green, yellow-green, orange-green, green.

It is of utmost importance that all junior members at Atomic Jiu-Jitsu have a self-defense based foundation to jiu-jitsu. To be considered for each belt promotion, the child must attend regularly for at least 8 months and complete between 80 and 100 classes.

On top of our Gracie Bullyproof self-defense program, we also have an Atomic Junior Jiu-Jitsu belt ranking system that is based on the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation belt ranking requirements. This ranking system is required to compete in any competition and sportive based events. All junior teammates at Atomic Jiu-Jitsu will have a Gracie Bullyproof Self-Defense belt and an Atomic Jiu-Jitsu Competition belt. The ranking system is as follows: white, grey-white, grey, grey-black, yellow-white, yellow, yellow-black, orange-white, orange, orange-black, green-white, green, green-black.

The Combatives belt is a self-defense based belt earned through passing the Gracie Combatives® belt test through Gracie University. The Combatives belt can only be earned after having completed at least 8 months of Combatives training and being able to fluidly demonstrate all 36 street applicable techniques through reflex development and fight simulation. Every 20 classes a member attends, they will earn a stripe on their white belt. When a member has trained for at least 8 months, have earned four stripes on their belt, and have mastered the techniques in every possible combination through Reflex Development classes, they will be ready to test for their Gracie Combatives belt. In order to be a true Atomic Jiu-Jitsu Blue belt, a member must be proficient in the Gracie Combatives techniques and pass the Gracie Combatives belt test through the Gracie University Video Evaluation Process with a minimum score of 90%. After having done so, they will move on to the Atomic Advanced Jiu-Jitsu class where they must continue training for an additional 6 months to qualify to test for their Blue Belt.

Members are able to advance to the Advanced Jiu-Jitsu curriculum and earn their blue belt and beyond only after having earned their Combatives belt. Once a member has earned their Gracie Combatives Self-Defense belt through Gracie University, they will be able to attend the Advanced Jiu-Jitsu class as a four stripe white belt to continue their journey to Blue Belt where they will be required to train an additional 6 months before being able to test and be promoted. At Atomic Jiu-Jitsu, it is our first priority that all members of the school have a strong understanding and foundation of the self-defense based jiu-jitsu as taught by Grand Master Helio Gracie and outlined in the Gracie Combatives curriculum. The Atomic Advanced Jiu-Jitsu belt ranking is based on the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation’s time requirements and also on Atomic Jiu-Jitsu’s belt testing requirements.

Our Muay Thai belt ranking system is based on Chute Boxe.
